Highmark & UPMC Split – Big Concern for Western PA Employers
After months of negative press between Highmark & UPMC, the decision to not renew contracting has come to fruition. Very unfortunate as this will have a drastic impact to Western PA employers, employees and staff members for both health systems. Health plans offered through CIGNA, Aetna and UHC networks encompass all providers. We suspect that most employers will be looking to make the move to one of these carriers or networks for their employer sponsored health plan in the coming months. We hope that Highmark and UPMC can work together in the future to focus on what is best for the Western PA community.
